Real Estate/Realtor Course

To practice as a Realtor in British Columbia, completing the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course is a must. This in-person course prepares you for the knowledge, professionalism, and exam readiness expected of new real estate representatives in British Columbia. You’ll work through agency relationships, contract and property law essentials, listings and offers, strata and tenancy considerations, risk management, and client care. Each unit includes practice questions, case discussions, and exam strategies so you’re confident on test day and prepared for brokerage life.

This program is designed to prepare you for the provincial licensing exam pathway. Licensing decisions, eligibility, and registration are determined by the regulator and/or designated education/exam providers; additional steps and fees apply after training.

Requirements for Real Estate License

  • REnglish Language Proficiency (ELPR): achieve CELPIP–General Level 7 or higher in each of the four components (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in a single sitting. This must be met before you can write the licensing exam.
  • RRe-licensing education & exam: complete the approved Real Estate Trading Services licensing course and pass the provincial licensing exam administered via UBC Sauder under BCFSA.
  • RApplied Practice Course (APC): enroll in and complete the required Applied Practice Course components (residential or commercial stream) within the regulator’s timelines; parts of APC must be completed pre-licensing, and remaining components post-licensing while practising.
  • RAuthorization to Work in Canada
  • RSponsoring brokerage: apply with a sponsoring brokerage and submit the full licensing application and fees to BCFSA

EXAM CRITERIA / INFORMATION

  • RFocus areas: Agency and fiduciary duties, ethics and professional standards, contract and property law, valuation and financing basics, listings and marketing, offers and disclosures, strata and rental considerations, risk management and anti-money laundering awareness.
  • RPractice: Timed drills, case studies, and full-length mock exams; exam-taking strategies included.
  • RExam: You will register directly with the designated education/exam provider per BCFSA requirements (separate registration and fees; valid government ID required).
  • RNext steps: After passing the exam and meeting BCFSA’s requirements, apply for licensing and complete brokerage onboarding as required by your sponsoring brokerage.

What math level is required?

Comfort with practical calculations (mortgage payments, interest, prorations, commissions, and basic taxation). We review methods and provide practice.

What if I fail the exam on the first attempt?

You can typically rebook after the provider’s waiting period and fee. We’ll help you analyze results and build a targeted study plan.

How much time should I study each week?

Plan for 6–8 hours of self-study alongside classes.

After passing the exam, am I licensed immediately?

Licensing is a separate process with BCFSA and requires a sponsoring brokerage, fees, and documentation. We provide a step-by-step checklist.
