CAIB2/CAIB3/CAIB4 Exam Preparation Course

Already licensed at General Insurance Level 1? This in-person program helps you prepare for CAIB 2, CAIB 3, and CAIB 4 with focused instruction, problem sets, and exam simulations. You’ll review personal and commercial lines at an advanced level, policy wording analysis, risk and underwriting, complex claims scenarios, brokerage operations, leadership, and regulatory responsibilities. Each stream includes practice questions, case discussions, and strategies to approach higher-difficulty items on exam day.

Requirements for Advanced CAIB Licenses

  • RFor Level 2: hold a valid Level 1 licence and pass CAIB 2 and CAIB 3 (or recognized equivalents); meet Council suitability requirements; apply with agency sponsorship.
  • RFor Level 3: meet Council requirements for the management level, pass CAIB 4 (or recognized equivalent), and complete any experience/role prerequisites established by the Council; submit a complete application with a qualifying brokerage.
  • RAge, reputation, and background checks: you must meet the regulator’s suitability standards.
  • RAuthorization to Work in Canada
  • RTimelines and documentation: submit applications, fees, and supporting documents within the Council’s current timelines.

EXAM CRITERIA / INFORMATION

  • RCAIB 2 (Commercial Insurance fundamentals): commercial property/liability, commercial auto context, risk evaluation, underwriting, business interruption, crime, boiler & machinery, marine overview, policy wording analysis.
  • RCAIB 3 (Commercial specialization & brokerage practice): advanced commercial packages, CGL and endorsements, specialty risks, surety basics, risk management, sales and service workflows, E&O prevention, regulatory responsibilities.
  • RPractice & support: structured study plans, calculation and wording drills, scenario questions, weekly checkpoints, and a proctored mock exam for each level.
  • RExam Steps: candidates register directly with the designated provider; separate exam fees apply; valid government ID required. Results release and rewrite rules follow the provider’s current policy.

Do I need to complete CAIB in order?

Most candidates complete CAIB 2 and CAIB 3 for Level 2, then CAIB 4 for management-level licensing. Your employer may recommend an order based on your role.

How hard are the CAIB exams compared with FOI or CAIB 1?

CAIB 2/3/4 go deeper into commercial risks, wording analysis, and brokerage operations. Expect more complex scenarios and management topics.

Can I take only one level now and another later?
